Shoulder problems

Shoulders are complex joints that have to deal with a lot of stress and strain from everyday living as well as being vulnerable to sports or traumatic injuries. The shoulder girdle consists of the upper arm, shoulder blade and collar bone but also works closely with the upper back and neck. The types of problem that patients find we help with include:

  • Tendonitis in the biceps or supraspinatus muscles
  • Sub-acromial Bursitis or “Painful Arc Syndrome"
  • Rotator cuff strains and other sports injuries
  • Frozen Shoulder or Adhesive capsulitis

Elbow, wrist and hand problems

Problems with the arm, wrist and hand can be caused by a range of factors and not just from sporting injuries. The overuse of computers, tablets and smart phones can result in elbow, forearm and wrist pain. Manual workers too can suffer from symptoms in their arms. Poorly resolved traumatic injuries such as dislocations and fractures can also result in problems. Some of the problems that osteopathy can help with include:

  • Tennis elbow
  • Repetitive strain and tendinitis
  • Golfers elbow
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
